About CDM
Owner Mitch Mitchell has loved cameras since his first photography class at Indian Creek Junior High School in 1973. Especially drawn to videography, he’s always embraced the latest technology, from the bulky VHS camcorders of the 1980s to the first waterproof, pre-GoPro helmet cam with a battery the size of a Stephen King novel in the early 2000s. Early on, he recognized the value of bringing potential customers along for the ride. He used his action-packed videos to promote his successful kayak business, Coastal Kayak, which he ran with his wife, Jenifer, for nearly 30 years.
As soon as drones became accessible, he got one. An avid kayaker, sailor, surfer, and biker, he put that same single-minded enthusiasm into learning how to fly drones. He passed his FAA drone pilot’s test in 2016 (the first year it was offered) and started Coastal Drone Marketing that same year.
FPV (first-person view) drones are his new obsession. With their speed and agility, they open up even more possibilities to showcase events, businesses, venues and nature’s spectacular landscapes.
