Q. What information will I need to give when requesting some images?
A. There are a number of questions we will ask based primarily on what your goals are. We will first need to know the location of the project. We will also need to know what is is you are looking for such as web-site images, commercial footage, youtube videos etc.. We will need to know if you would like any additional items such as your business name or logo added to the photos, property lines, scrolling text included with the video etc.. Finally we will want to know what are the key featues you are trying to promote. Are you trying to show proximity to water, parks etc., are you trying to show the great views from the property or just the beautiful layout. We will usually want to do a pre-flight inspection of the property so that we can pre-plan our photo shoot and look for any problems or hazzards.
Q. What qualifications does CDM have?
A. CDM uses only licensed FAA small UAS (drone) pilots. This insurers that you can rest comfortably that the entire process will be done in a professional and Legal manner.
Q. Does CDM have insurance?
A. Yes, CDM uses Verifly Liability Insurance
Q. Are there any restrictions as far as weather conditions for flying?
A. Yes, there a number of conditions that might cause a delay in the photo shoot. Many weather conditions are dictated by the FAA as far as when it is safe to fly. Certain visibility requirements must be met along with wind maximums, temperature minimums and percipitation. There are also certain areas that are within regulated airspace such as near large airports that would require a waiver to operate in. Waivers can take several weeks or longer to acquire.
Q. Do I own the images outright. As with most intellectual property the ownership remains with the photographer. You will be given non-exclusive rights to use the photos however you feel fit for the project at hand typically with no expiration date. What you cannot do is re-sell or give the images to another party for a separate use. Other usange options are available.
Q. My neighbor received a drone for Christmas, can I have him take photos of my property to put on MLS?
A. The FAA requires anyone who is flying a drone for commercial purposes (even if no fee is being charged) to have UAS Remote Pilot's Certificate.
